Such a lovely place, and a great find on a roadtrip through Argyll.
The food is great, so are the prices and the people that work here. The salad that came with the haggis rarebit was especially tasty.
If you're passing through definitely stop here, even the town carpark is free!

Every fall, while passing through Lochgilphead, we make a stop at the Smiddy. Wonderful food, friendly staff, and an adorable eating space. My wife insists we divert through Lochgilphead to stop there. We’ll be back again this September!

This small cozy cafe is off the beaten path but the food was great and the people were so friendly . I had a sandwich with a fried egg on top (very tasty!) and my husband had the nachos. We got a small dessert as takeaway. The food was good BUT the help was even better! We were u ah f difficulty figuring out how to make a call to a Scottish phone number with our American phones .. and the gentleman was so very accommodating and helpful! Highly recommended!

Every time I visit the West Coast I always make a point of visiting the SMIDDY for a very enjoyable 'Cullen Skink' Well worth the days drive from Portsmouth ! Thanks guys.

Such a wonderful find in this beautiful town!
A bit off the main path which makes it more niche. Can reserve ahead of time but we were able to be seated no problem without. 2 adults and 1 kid. Kid's menu available which was great. He loved his grilled cheese.
There is a daily menu which changes day to day, many salads and sweets. I had the quiche with a melange of salads on the side - one was a curry flavored potato/pasta salad which was phenomenal. I still can taste it. Husband had a smoked salmon stack which he LOVED.
Please stop here and give this lovely business your time and attention. What a lovely place.

The food was simply amazing! The salads, the quiche and the homemade burger… all delicious. Very good latte as well! I highly recommend that you make a stop at Smiddy’s lovely bistro

Delicious food - too tasty to wait to take a photo of! Excellent salads as ever, croque madame was lovely. Ginger sponge with orange sauce to finish was beautiful. And all of the above at a reasonable price too!

Was heady to the Salty Dog, but asked a gift shop owner and he recommended here. What a find. Although it says Bistro they do a good range of cakes. Scone was nice, I don'tike scones warmed, it was no hassle to change the warmed scone to a cold one, caramel cake was moist and tasty. Took a custard cream slice away, which was different. Tea and coffee good £14 dross. Nice decor, two ladies working were lovely. We were only people in as it was half an hour to close but we felt at ease in the place. Menu looked good. If passing through again would make here our pit stop
